Balsam Lake Trails

Just outside of downtown Balsam Lake you can find a system of walking trails to discover.


DD Kennedy Park

“A 99-acre environmental area preserve located between Amery and Balsam Lake along the Balsam Branch which flows through central Polk County. Located 17 minutes from Saint Croix Falls.

The park includes a prairie restoration area with hiking trails (interpretive) with native grasses, wildflowers, and birds, fishing (bridge and handicap accessible pier), dam and millpond, education building, picnic area with grills, picnic shelter with electric, playground, and restrooms.”

Gandy Dancer Trail

“The southern segment of the Gandy Dancer trail begins in St. Croix Falls, near Interstate State Park. The southern segment travels for 47 miles in Wisconsin through the communities of Centuria, Milltown, Luck, Frederic, Siren and Webster, ending in the town of Danbury at the Minnesota border.”

Straight Lake State Park

“A pristine natural area and quiet beauty are found at Straight Lake in northwest Wisconsin. This 1,800-acre park is open to foot traffic only. Lake views and glacial features provide great vistas on the Ice Age National Scenic Trail within the park. Fishing is allowed and boats may be carried in to fish. Pets are welcome in Wisconsin State Parks but must be on a leash and under control at all times.”
