What is the 1000 Books Program?
The 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten (BBK) program is designed to help parents prepare their children for one of life’s big milestones: kindergarten.
Reading together develops important pre-reading skills that provide a solid foundation for learning success.
How Does it Work?
Come to the library to sign up and get started.
Earn rewards at each milestone and track your progress using the reading log we provide.
Visit the library after each 100 book milestone for your rewards.
What Books Count?
- Any books read to your child, beginning on the day you register.
- Any book that is read to your child by anybody counts.
- Even audiobooks – As long as your child listens to the whole book, it counts!
- Books may be read more than once and recorded each time as a book read.
- If your child reads a book to you, it counts too!
